woom Bikes In response to multiple reports indicating the potential detachment or loosening of handlebars during use, a company has issued a recall for 84,000 children’s bikes. This information was disclosed in a news release by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
“Safety Concerns: Reports of Handlebars Detaching Prompt Recall of woom Bikes”
On Thursday, woom Bikes USA issued a recall for all sizes of their original 2018 to 2021 model bikes intended for children aged 18 months to 14 years. The decision came after the company received 77 reports of the handlebar stem detaching or loosening, leading to 19 injuries involving bruising, cuts, or abrasions. Additionally, 533 of these bikes were sold in Canada.
The agency responsible for consumer product safety advised individuals to discontinue using the recalled bicycles and to reach out to woom Bikes USA for a complimentary repair kit. They further stated that woom Bikes USA is in direct contact with all known purchasers to provide necessary instructions and support.

The bicycles were available for purchase on woom.com, Amazon.com, and local bike stores across the country from September 2018 to March 2022. These bikes were offered in six versions: woom 1, woom 1 Plus, woom 2, woom 3, woom 4, woom 5, and woom 6. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, their prices ranged from $200 to $530.
The bikes were sold in various vibrant colors including yellow, purple, green, red, and blue. The word “woom” was displayed in white on the downtube and in metallic on the front of the headtube.
